Brianne + Rafik
6.23.23 Arch Cape, Oregon
Rafik & Brianne
Welcoming, Walkabout, Cannon Beach Catering, Trilogy of Rings…
The day prior to the wedding we set out to Arch Cape, to a vacation rental liken to a scene in one of the Miazaki films where the couple welcomed us amongst the grinning poppy flowers and surprisingly thoughtful interior details which also reflected Japanese meets Oregon coast culture. The lighting installation began, and met in a constellation above the deck, as we all were a bit starry eyed looking forward to the next day when Rafik and Brianne could be dining underneath with their loved ones.
Day of, the couple were wed on the beach, after a delightful walkabout to Arch Cape and returned for the festivities. Niblack Events provided the reception fare, starting with the Strawberry Moscow Mule, and Grazing Boards featuring produce from Blackberry Bog Farms, and JJ’s notorious dips and house made ferments along side cheeses from near and far. Wild Mushroom Croquettes with their decisive crunch and seriously smooth inner textures were also offered with great reception, on top of a bed of taracotta romesco with a twinkling of micro-greenery.
Off to the tables then seated, guests would find Ivan’s Black Garlic Hummus with Catering Cannon Beach Bakery’s signature Zaatar Flat Bread (Brianne was beyond YES when presented with this idea) for their dipping pleasure. Once the buffet was open, guests were greeted with a Summer Salad with choice of Black Garlic Vinaigrette (yeah, we love the black garlic), or Strawberry Vinaigrette. If you didn’t already know, Oregon has some of the finest seasonal strawberries you can come by, and yes they were in this salad dressing. Next, for the sides were the Tabbouleh (Rafik had a good deal of traditional input on this dish—it turned out amazing), then the Herb Roasted Vegetables & Potatoes. Proteins included Herb Brined Chicken Thighs, Fresh Caught Steelhead with a Beurre Blanc Sauce, and a vegetarian option of Butternut Squash Quiche.
Desserts included a delightful wedding cake and cupcakes, by Gathered Bakery in Astoria.
To marry it all together, some folks generate events to build esteem or standing in the eyes of others. The essence of this event, however was constructed ring by ring, conjoined in respect built by hearts and conduct that have developed over generations unknown to us, yet clearly defined by generosity beyond our expectations by this family. Thank you Rafik & Brianne, for truly one of the most memorable events of Niblack Events history, and future. We sincerely wish you both a blessed marriage together, building family, legacy and trilogy of traditions and celebrations together in the same spirit as this was created.
-Sincerely, the Niblack Family & Crew

Ashley + Nick. 11.4.23 Ruins at Astor
When you get your vows from a Haunted House…
The atmosphere was set, in the historic Astor Ruins building, in the heart of downtown Astoria. Dear friends gathered to add the decorative touches to tables as the couple was getting prepared in the apartment upstairs, overlooking the Columbia River. The light shone into the panes of the archways, as the forecast changed from torrential storms to the sun showing itself to bring life to Ashley & Nick, as they took photos in the upper quarters of the balcony. What of these vows, that were lost then found?
As the two flower girls paraded down the isle between the set tables with appropriate demeanor of decor, the couple was clearly relieved that the slips of paper pulled out of a wedding chapel halloween house were found, and now they found themselves surrounded by witnesses to a wedding long awaited. A friend as officiant, and exchanges of laughter and love sealed the union, underneath the hotel sign that welcomed many guests for many years.
Here’s to you both, for many welcoming memories and scripts that last, with your story being one for tales and laughter with loved ones for years to come. Even Crystal the photographer was hoping she would be chosen, to shoot the memories in this famous yet eerily crumbling venue, which will be a long awaited chapter in her photo gallery.
